Week 8: Art from Found Objects

Members: $150 Non-members: $175
Gather up some creative spirit and turn household junk into works of art. Experiment with printmaking, collage, weaving and sculpture. Draw and design a puppet built from found or recycled objects.
Week 9: Drawing and Printmaking
Ursula Coute August 23 – 27
Members: $150 Non-members: $175
Explore different printmaking and drawing techniques to create texture, movement, balance and depth. Look to favorite storybook authors for inspiration designing book covers for your own stories.
FALL CLASSES 2010
Fashion Design with Sioux Campbell
8 weeks / Mondays, Sept 20 - Nov 15 / 4 - 5:30 pm
Members: $90 Non-members: $110 * No class Oct 11
Do you love fashion? This series of classes will enable the young designer to focus on an area of fashion that interests them. You’ll learn how to take your design ideas and incorporate them into creating your own fashion sketches. Come learn about the process used by fashion designers and how to sketch the fashion figure. You’ll be able to render fabrics, draw silhouettes and create fashion inspiration boards. Young designers will sketch their own line of clothing or accessories.
Drawing and Painting Animals with Ursula Coute
8 weeks / Wednesdays, Sept 22 - Nov 10 / 4 - 5 pm
Members: $65 Non-members: $85
Come explore the artists of the world to see how they represent animals of different cultures. We’ll look at the use of color and learn how to use different drawing and painting techniques to achieve texture, form and movement to transform pencil and paint on paper, to scales, fur and feathers. Young artists will learn how to include a setting in their composition and to balance color.
Clay for Kids (Ages 7 - 12) with Jenn Reed
8 weeks / Thursdays, Sept 23 - Nov 18 / 4 - 5:30 pm
Members: $90 Non-members: $110 * No class Nov 11
Ready to get dirty? Come with a vision and explore your imagination, and develop your creativity. We will use clay to express ourselves and learn how to make functional and sculptural clay art with hand-building techniques such as pinch, coils and slabs. Students will use texture, colored slips and glaze to enhance and complete their works.
